They flew.
They floated.
They zipped by the window.
They meandered across the pane of glass.
Snowflakes. Of every size. So similar, yet each unique in their own way.
Oh, and one interesting point? Viewed from afar, they offer a blur of white, crispy particles amid swirls of sparkles and twinkles. Up close—if we take time to observe—a peek of their distinct characteristics before they disappear.
Reminds me of us humans.
Some of us dash about, dash about, dash about. Others stroll along the path. And yes, thanks to our Creator, we have great potential to glimmer and shine in our own ways.
Speed of movement. Color of hair. Weight. Height. Body shape. Individual talents and gifts. All these and many more are indicators of what makes each of us beings created in the image and likeness of God.
The important thing to remember is that there is no right or wrong with regard to our similarities or differences.
Like the dance of the snowflakes, you and I begin our journey in the womb of Eternal Mystery. As time unfolds, we experience the ups and downs of ascent and descent until one day it is our time to melt into that from which we came.
And the cycle continues.
May we open our hearts, minds, and spirits, to all that is good, all that is different, and yes, all that is uniquely the same about what it means to be a child of God.
